How To Tone Up Your Stomach In 3 Simple Steps

Exercise alone will not tone up your stomach. Just think how long it’s taken for you to build up that layer of fat around your middle and realise that it is the most difficult area to lose fat from. Focusing on abdominal exercises alone will have no effect whatsoever in burning fat.

Until you have removed that layer of fat you won’t be able to see your abdominal muscles. So how do we go about removing that layer of fat? A combination of nutrition and exercise. In fact nutrition plays the more important role in burning stomach fat which in turn will allow the exercise to work more effectively to tone up your stomach.

The 3 effective steps to lose weight from your stomach and tone up your stomach muscles which are inter-related and necessary are:

STEP 1:

If you want to tone up your stomach you first need to look at your diet. So to start with ensure you drink lots of water, at least 6-8 glasses a day, instead of fizzy drinks. .

Avoid salty foods high in sodium as these will cause bloating and water retention. Work on reducing the amount of carbs you eat and eat foods higher in protein - fish, chicken, beef, pork etc and .

Pass up on the sugary foods that fill you up but do nothing for you and choose wholemeal bread, brown rice, wholemeal pasta instead but limit your intake. Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. After 3-4 weeks you will see a difference in your weight and this alone will slim down your stomach.

STEP 2:

In tandem with your healthy eating plan perform cardio exercise three times a week for 30-40 minutes to get the fat burning off. If you are not used to an exercise program then try power walking, jogging, swimming or bicycling these are excellent free methods of exercise that can burn calories.

Every time that you exercise try to increase the intensity and if appropriate the distance covered. Once you see an improvement in your fitness level you can introduce a specific program targeted to involve cardio and resistance exercises which will improve on your fitness and take you to the next level. Remember the key to burning fat and losing weight in the long term is a consistency of approach.

THREE:

You need to work on three core areas to get the best results from stomach exercises and tone up your stomach.

These core areas are Upper Abs, Lower Abs and Obliques. If you work on all 3 areas you will tone up the whole of your stomach area. Every time you work out you should be pushing the muscles harder to force the muscles to improve their tone. With consistent exercise as well as a nutritious diet they will start to flatten.

Once you are into a regular routine you should look for an exercise program, either at the gym or a DVD, that is broken down over beginner, intermediate and advanced levels to provide you with highly targeted exercises for the 3 core areas. You will then be able to increase the intensity of the exercises at a pace that suits your requirements and fits in with your daily routine.

Remember ‘Consistency and Action’ is the KEY!
