Motivate Yourself to Work-Out Using a Pedometer Watch

Are you struggling with your work out routine? Do you find that instead of going outside for your daily job you choose to sit on the computer and surf the internet about easy ways to lose weight? Well, let me be blunt: there is no easy way to lose weight. You have to have a sustained exercise effort in order to make any progress and if you aren’t out there running you aren’t doing a good job.

The pedometer watch tracks your steps as you wear it during the course of the day. You can wear it during a strenuous work out period or you can wear it just for casual use but it will turn your walking into a statistical hard number. You can use that hard number to track your progress over the weeks to see where you are and where you should be going in your work out routine.

Most people tend to start working out and constantly monitor their weight. They jump on the scale once a day and either get really happy or really sad to see that there is very little change happening. Weight loss takes a sustained effort over an extended period of time and it’s not going to happen over night. For that reason it gets kind of tough to stay motivated if you’re focusing on your body weight. Instead, use the pedometer to focus on a number that will constantly be rising: your steps! As you work out your step count will rise and you can keep adding to it every day of the week.

It is a good idea to create some kind of game out of your work out to make it more interesting and it will keep your mind involved. I like to liken it to role playing video games. The pedometer watch tracks my steps and I turn those steps into experience points. As I continue to work out over the months I earn experience points and level up. At different levels in the game I open up rewards for myself. That keeps me on track and continually progressing.

Get your friends involved too because lord knows they need to lose some weight. Buy a pedometer watch for your friend for his birthday and then get him to come running with you. If he’s faster than you that’s even better because the competition will spur you on. Every week compare your stats against each other and see who is on top for that week and then try to beat each other. Sooner or later you’ll realize that while you were focusing on beating your friend you were actually getting into pretty good shape.

A pedometer watch allows you to keep track of your progress over time. Record the amount of steps and the distance you travel every day in a log book or in an excel spreadsheet. I like to track my steps every day and then weigh myself on the scale once a month. I track all of that information and keep it in my log book and I get to see how I am progressing towards my goals.

Go out and buy yourself a pedometer watch and stop loafing around the couch. The internet doesn’t have all the answers and it certainly isn’t about to suck the fat out of your body. The only way you can get healthier is by going out and working at it. Pedometer watches can help but it is up to you to really make the difference.
